Hikage: I'll be over shortly.

[And true to her word, she doesn't take long at all - the length of time it takes for the elevator to go from one floor to the other. She's outside waiting when she texts her again to let her know that she's there.]

[As soon as she gets the text, Serenity comes out to greet her.]

Thanks for coming to see me on such short notice.

[Serenity leans up and gives Ren a short kiss before stepping aside so she can come in.]

[Excuse you that kiss was too short. Once she's inside, she lifts Serenity's chin so that she can lean in and give her a longer kiss.]

It sounded important so I didn't want to wait.

Well... seeing you is always important.

...but you're right. It's a lot bigger than that.

It's serious, then. Either something happened to Bad End or it's something else...?

[The only thing 'bigger' she can think of is Graduation. She pushes that thought down immediately, not wanting to think about it.]

Well, Bad End is certainly in a state but...

[There's no nice way to say it. It's not a particularly joyous occasion-- especially now, when there's not even a promise of a farewell party or even that she'll be going somewhere safer. But she has to-- and she knows that Ren is strong enough.]

No this time it's about me. About... my future. The future I've chosen. I haven't been offered a deal, but... I think I'll be able to leave this place soon. Of my own volition.

[It's like ice water has filled her lungs. She takes several moments to process the words, not sure what to say.]

I'll- I want to go with you.

[Even as she says it, she knows that her mother would still be here. Even worse, she knows from Alisaie what happened to Heart Soldier and SensitIV and she doesn't want something like that happening to pep or Bad End.]

I can't lose you too.

[She may be strong enough to handle it eventually, but she doesn't know that she's strong enough to handle it right now.]

...I don't know why me or even what to expect next. I can't promise it's safe or... anything, really. But... if you get that chance. If you hear a voice calling you-- when that time comes, if you still want to follow me, then... I'd be happy if you did.

[It hurts to know she can't bring Ren with her even if she wanted to. It's difficult knowing that there are no guarantees for the future. But even so, it makes her happy that Ren would even still say she wanted to, knowing what Serenity was rushing off to do so selfishly.]

You will never lose me. And... hopefully, once I've done the things I need to do... we can go somewhere better. Together.

[The longer she listens, the harder it is to stop her eyes from filling with unshed tears.]

Of course I’ll follow you. I’ve told you so many times now: I love you.

[She blinks, tears sliding down her cheeks, and brings her hands up to cradle her face.]

You’re everything to me.

[Leaning in, she kisses her.]
